More than 20 million tons of steel are produced annually using tundishes lined with Weerulin products. Weerulin provides all kinds of monolithic refractory products for the steel tundish, such as:

Wet Spray Mixes

Weerulin's wet spray mixes are internationally leading. This technology is based on the idea that insulating components completely burn out during heating, leaving hollow spaces that provide optimal insulation. Complex fiber systems ensure the complete evaporation of residual moisture. Weerulin offers several product lines for slurry gunning:

  • Classic-line: High refractory performance and good insulation properties. The balanced raw material mix provides an optimal price-performance ratio.
  • Clean-steel-line: Based on an SiO2- and carbon-free binding system, ideal for producing the purest steel grades (clean steel).
  • Super-insulating-line: For extremely long sequences and the highest insulation capability. Layer thickness up to 150 mm, casting times up to 100 hours. The temperature of the permanent lining can be reduced by 200°C.
  • Turbo start-line: Allows immediate use of the lined tundish without pre-drying, thanks to special binder and fiber systems.

Dry Vibe Mixes

Dry vibe mixes for tundishes are the best alternative to wet sprays. Weerulin has been a leader in this sector for over 40 years and has produced and used more than 200,000 tons of Dry Vibe mixes worldwide.

Binder Technology

The core of dry vibe technology lies in the binder composition. Modern binder systems for vibration mixes can either set under heat or set cold. Weerulin has played a significant role in developing new binder compositions, such as the invention of carbon-free binders.

Template Technology / e-mould

We handle the engineering for a template and heating technology individually tailored to your continuous casting process. The key is quick and even heat distribution within the template body. Additional equipment includes a heating station, which can either be integrated into the steel template or mounted externally to a cover. The heating system can work either with an open flame or with hot air.

Permanent Lining

For the permanent lining, we recommend our two-layer technique: a light insulating concrete sprayed directly onto the steel shell, combined with a high-density castable concrete. Whether thixotropic or self-flowing, on a bauxite, andalusite, or zircon silicate base, we decide together with the customer after analyzing the conditions.
