The Electric Arc Furnace is the melting unit of the future. Refractory products must withstand the extreme conditions caused by scrap impact, slag management, and significant temperature fluctuations between heats.

Installation and Repair

Behind the wear lining bricks, the use of monolithic masses as intermediate and safety linings is recommended. This safety lining ensures optimal protection against infiltration and backflow.

For new installations of the furnace hearth, Weerulin offers hearth mixes specifically designed for the operating mode of the EAF.

EAF Maintenance

For the critical hot zones in the electric arc furnace, we use high-quality basic gunning mixes with various raw material combinations and binding systems—from preventive maintenance with cost-effective olivine-containing gunning mixes to those based on fused magnesite.

Our gunning mixes are easy to process with all gunning and robotic systems. We also provide modern machine technology upon request, such as low-maintenance and low-dust pressure vessel machines.

EBT Tapping

The EBT tapping in the electric arc furnace is often the bottleneck of the unit. For opening, we recommend our precisely graded filler sand FOR DUNA based on dunite.

Our FOR DUNA is 10% lighter than conventional products, leading to an immediate reduction in consumption. The opening rates remain consistently at the highest level, making our tapping sand FOR DUNA a genuinely green alternative.
