Our Preshapes

Weerulin develops and manufactures prefabricated refractory components ranging from 5 kg light tap hole nozzle to EAF lids weighing up to 15 tons. All our preshapes are characterized by precise shaping, the use of the highest quality concretes, and an exact production process. The range of WEERULIN Preshapes includes:

Electric Furnace Lids

Weerulin produces monolithic key parts for all types of furnaces, which achieve exceptionally long service life. These are designed according to customer specifications or our own design and prepared for use in our preshape production with defined drying curves.

Weerulin EAF lids are currently in use in leading electric steel mills in Germany and Europe, consistently delivering excellent durability.

Alternatively, we can also provide our high-quality castables, and the installation is carried out on-site by the customer, supervised by our technical field service.

RH-Snorkels

High availability of the system is a top goal for all steelmakers. The use of prefabricated RH-snorkels is the decisive success factor for the vacuum degasser. Weerulin produces fully lined and dried vacuum snorkels for RH and DH systems.

The steel structure, argon pipe system, and magnesite-chrome bricks for the wear lining are all integrated. With over 3,500 RH-snorkels produced, we are among the European leaders.

Our highly specialized know-how in preassembled snorkels can be the key to longer service life for your vacuum system.

Power Drum

Ideal flow conditions in the tundish are key to 'clean steel.' Weerulin has extensively researched flow control and splash reduction in continuous casting. The result is the patented Weerulin Power Drum®.

Based on CFD simulations of the specific casting process and the geometric conditions of the tundish, we develop a perfectly matching Power Drum® for your tundish. Contact us!

Special Components

Weerulin has the know-how necessary for the development and production of geometrically complex components.

This could include a tap hole brick, a flow-shaping element in the tundish, a ladle ring segment, a segmented electric arc furnace runner, or an entire tundish in a special format, as used to produce powder steel.

Using CFD flow simulation software (SolidWorks Pro/Flow Simulation), we create metallurgical flow simulations and, in collaboration with the customer, develop the ideal shape for each component.
